Eric Brace & Peter Cooper - You Don't Have to Like Them Both (2008)

To be more precise, you’re going to love them both. This is one of those musical pairings that just comes out of nowhere and yields an unforgettable recording. Mixing some originals with covers of Kristofferson, Jim Lauderdale, David Olney, Todd Snider and others this one hits the right notes every step of the way. Brace has been making great music for years, and Cooper got started doing the same himself last year. On top of all that it has one of the best covers we’ve seen on a disc in a long time.
The band:

Lloyd Green on pedal steel (recently nominated for a Grammy), Dave Roe on bass (from Johnny Cash's band and more), Jen Gunderman on keys and accordian (Last Train Home, Jayhawks), Paul Griffith (everyone) on drums, and Eric and Peter both playing acoustic guitars and trading off leads and harmonies. Featured help from Tim O'Brien, Kenny Vaughan, Richard Bennett, Tim Carroll, Jon Byrd, Scotty Huff and Daniel Tashian.

There are 4 original songs (w/ cowriter Jim Lauderdale on one; Todd Snider on another) and songs that Eric and Peter love by the likes of Kris Kristofferson, Jim Lauderdale, David Olney, Kevin Gordon & Colin Linden, Paul Kennerley, Karl Straub, Todd Snider.
